But it was...
"How is that possible?"
Kun Deming mocked his own whimsical thoughts, shook his head, and put away the file in his hand.
The nameless ancient god belonged to the Zerg and could not possibly appear in the stars this far. Its true form was billions of light-years away, possibly in another world—since no one knew the origin of the Zerg, the exact location of the ancient god remained uncertain.
Although the characteristics were somewhat similar, it couldn't be ruled out that some special monsters might produce such effects. But to reach the level of the nameless ancient god was truly dreaming.
The nameless ancient god's favor towards the Zerg was unique. Unlike humans, who would be polluted to death by recalling the appearance of the ancient god, the Zerg would also suffer but would significantly increase the chance of awakening their extraordinary abilities after the pain. This was the fundamental reason behind the Zerg's formidable combat abilities. Therefore, in the past, a saying circulated in the universe: "Wherever the Zerg tide descends, there must be protection."
Such a method of becoming stronger through memories and being blessed by a deity was truly... enviably fortunate.
Speaking of which, the recently departed executor did awaken extraordinary abilities due to this, but considering the malice of the nameless ancient god towards humans, Kun Deming could only bitterly smile and shake his head, dismissing this ridiculous thought.
After a while, he organized the files on his desk, stood up, and prepared to attend to his duties.
Given his position, he actually didn’t need to come to the small City of Li as an investigator. His purpose here was not this but to win over relevant forces in City of Li in preparation for the presidential election a year from now.
To save humanity and lead them to a bright future, he needed to rally all possible unifying forces; becoming president was only the first step in this plan.
City of Li, dawn was breaking.
In a second-floor apartment in the central district, Ke Su had just woken up. He groggily got out of bed, dressed, washed up, and then took out a package of frozen instant food for breakfast.
He seemed to have had a pleasant dream last night, so this morning, Ke Su appeared refreshed. After eating, he sat down at his computer, opened it as usual, and prepared to check the game progress.
Opening the Steam Age instance, Dr. Kate had already developed two hundred followers, truly impressive.
Ke Su scrolled through the town's list of names with the mouse and found that there were only two hundred fifty people in total. The town was basically overrun.
So, was this instance close to completion?
Ke Su browsed through the town log in the game and found that the log had a lot of descriptive text about a traveling bard and included a video.
He was quite interested in the video and clicked on it. A retro steam-punk world slowly unfolded before him. Ke Su propped up his chin and stared intently.
From the bard Ledell moving into the inn to his first inquiry about the ancient god, everything seemed as real as if it were filmed on location.

[Steam World: Plague Doctor]
In this world, there are no gods.
Sitting in the church, Ledell looked at the magnificent and unmatched statue of the god under the stained glass window and thought so.
